VAE polymers are often used in adhesives. VAE are the enhanced polymers of PVAC, also known as wood glue. In relation to other binder technologies, like Styrene-acrylates or Styrene-butadiene, VAE polymers offer
- a lower flammability index
- almost no VOC emissions, so clean air and odour
- thermoplasticity, enabling thermoplastic recycling
- water solluble, anhancing recycleability
Biobased by massbalance method
Now already, VAE can be partially based on biobased Acetic acid. With a mass balance concept, VAE’s are availabe as biomassbalanced products, like green electricity. When Bio-ethylene is also commercially available, the basis raw materials including most of the additives, can be biobased.
Intercol is expert in formulating VAE-dispersion adhesives for your application. For packaging, woodworking, textile, carpet, coating and building applications.
A very sustainable binder technology
VAE-is already used in many applications, including dry powders for floor levelling compounds and tile adhesives.
